Afropop Worldwide’s Celebration of Women's History Month 2024

Beginning February 29, 2024, PRX’s Afropop Worldwide is helping stations celebrate Women's History Month with a specially curated selection of five episodes from the Afropop archive. Since its inception in 1988, Afropop Worldwide has focused on promoting an awareness of the African experience. These five episodes shine a light on women’s stories, from African legends like Umm Kulthum and Cheikha Rimitti - to modern musical warriors like Angelique Kidjo, Dobet Gnaore, Fatoumata Diaouara and Shungudzo. These episodes offer perspective on what it's like being a woman in the ever-evolving and fast-paced African music world.
