Untrammeled!

On September 3, 1964, president Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law the Wilderness Act, the culmination of almost twenty years of work by citizens and activists. The act instantly protected 9 million acres of federal land. September 3rd, 2014 is the 50th anniversary.

Untrammeled, as one of many endeavors intended to increase wilderness appreciation during this 50th anniversary year, seeks to engage the public's interest in continued wilderness stewardship. Through real-people stories and practical information about visiting our stunning wilderness preserves across the U.S., listeners will be inspired to investigate and explore on their own, leading ultimately to a public that can more directly relate to, understand, and value wilderness lands, and will recognize the importance of preserving them for generations to come.
