American Backroads is a weekly roots music program that has been running on WDCB-FM (90.9) in the Chicago area for well over a decade and a half. Hosted and programmed by longtime Chicago area rock radio personality Greg Easterling (97.1 FM, The Drive, WXRT, Q101), American Backroads is a weekly hour long excursion into the heart of American music, focusing on music, with a minimum of commentary. From Johnny Cash to Buddy Guy, Willie Nelson to the Grateful Dead, John Mellencamp to Shawn Colvin and B.B. King to Hank Williams, American Backroads offers a variety of mostly American based styles that cuts across musical boundaries to create a real musical landscape: Americana, roots rock, classic and contemporary country, folk and acoustic music, blues and gospel.
