Summary: My five year old cut off my three year old's hair. A few weeks later, I decided to interview them and get their explanations. Here's what they told me.

Guilty Innocence

Perfect spontaneous honesty as only innocence can produce - even when guilty as all get-up! Can't help but enjoy this.

parenting

The tone of dad's voice, giving these two rosebuds room to feel their perceptions and speak them, says more than most chapters on parenting. who i would be if i could do it over again and who i am closer to being with the people around me, young and old, with eamples like this. thanks.

Sweet

I think many of us have experienced some type of haircut disaster. I cut my bangs with the little round-end scissors we used in kindergarten. And as most kindergarteners, I didn't realize that school pictures were coming right up.

Loved hearing the sweet voices of these girls... so full of expression!

Thank you for recording this!

A cut above

Really beautiful piece! Made me remember when I was about 4 and cut a neighbor friend's hair. I think your daughter's right; it's something that happens in everyone's life about twice, or once. Love it!

Thank you for the wonderful story! I'm still smiling and giggling!

You've got to admit, she's got a point there ...

Something like that does indeed happen once ... or twice ... or three times in everyone's life. She's wise for one so young. ROFL

Priceless!

This is by far the cutest, funniest and true to life thing I have heard in a long time. These girls are so precious! You are truly blessed to have such comical children. I have 5 children and 11 grandchildren and I can assure you that moments like these will stay with you a lifetime. I wish I had all the technology back then that you are fortunate to have today.
God Bless!! I laughed so hard listening to this over and over. Made this 53 year old ladies day!!!!

Absolutely Priceless!!!

Like Susan, I have listened to this interview at least 10 times and I NEVER tire of hearing. I keep finding myself saying "My favorite part is: when dad asked "Did you think we would like it?" and the reply was "No. But I didn't think you would screem like that though." And then the part about her hair growing to her tush...and her hair was all the way to her butt and was itching her hips...I love it all. And Dad you did a fantastic job of interview and keeping a calm voice and I'm assuming a straight face. I don't know that I would have been able to do that. Darling, darling girls! I'm sure #10 won't be the last time I listen to this. I have shared it on Facebook and all of my friends are loving it as well. Great job!!!

It may be a sign

My three year old gave herself her own asymetrical haircut. 23 years later she is a stylish stylist at the organic salon in Baltimore, making twice as much money as her mother.

Loved it!

Most parents can relate. I'm a great-grandma now and I surely can. Thanks for bringing back memories. You sound like wonderful parents. Enjoy, these moments fly by so quickly.

Delightful!

I have listened to this interview at least 10 times. I chuckle each time and appreciate the love and rapport between these two little girls and their dad. As Art Linkletter said, "Kids say the darndest things". Thank you for sharing, Jeff Cohen. I hope you will post more interviews.

Brought back memories!

This is so hilarious. My own daughters did something similar around the same ages. The way I found out was the older one (maybe 3?) came in with her hands behind her back and asked, "Mama, um, does hair grow back?" This question struck fear in my heart -- especially when I saw the locks of blonde hair clutched in her little fists. She had cut her 2-year old sister's hair "to the quick" -- she was actually completely bald in spots. How she didn't draw blood I'll never know! How I wish I had thought to "interview" them about it -- You'll treasure this adorable clip forever. Thanks for sharing.

Hilarious!

This is the funniest thing ever! How on earth did yo manage that 'interview' without bursting into laughter.
Everyone does a really stupid thing once in their lives. Or twice. Or maybe three times....
It is soooo funny. And so cute :)

Oh, btw - is it okay if I share this on Facebook?

Eva and Sadie: Keep up the spirit of adventure!

May I request the producer to pass along a message to the interview subjects: What you did was not a terrible thing.

I hope you take up things like that more often, certainly more than three times in your life. You have inspired me to try to do likewise.

I hope the people who yelled at you have learned "never to do that again." They may console themselves, that although what they did was was terrible, something like that does happen at least once, or maybe even three times, in every life.

Two Little girls explain worst haircut

How on earth did you manage to get through the interview without falling on the floor laughing. I remember when my daughters did almost the same thing. Their hair was down to their tush's as well. I had a heart attack that day but now its a wonderful memory. Kim what's her name really needs to lighten up, she obviously is VERY uptight. You have 2 wonderful little girls who have their mother pegged. Keep raising them just the way they are.

Good journalism. I need a transcript.

Quite interesting, albeit hard to hear. I need a transcript.

Best part is that even though they say that they got yelled at, they articulately describe what they did, how, why, etc.

Good journalism.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS POST SURGERY!

LOL! I did-fresh home from hysterectomy-and trying to NOT LAUGH! These two are ADORABLE!!! It was down to her tush? Hid it under the radiator?! OMG! It's the red hair! I am one too! I needed a good laugh-the extra pain pill helped, too! Lol! Thanks for sharing and no, these girls won't be scarred for life! My mother cut my hair once-it was as long as in the pic-and she nicked my earlobe just starting out---I would not let her finish! So yeah, adults do it, too! LOl! Thanks for sharing!
