This is an awesome piece. Just the title, "Buffalo Turkey Butt,' is compelling. The acts featuring Hollister, the homeless guy whom Andy meets in San Francisco, were top quality. His accent gave a lot of character to the piece. Andy also managed to record a lot of his meeting with Hollister, and hearing sound of them was much better than if we were just told what had happened when they visited such-and-such restaurant. It's fun to learn about this one guy's experience when he didn't ignore all the homeless people in San Francisco and actually befriended one of them. The piece is contemplative, quirky, and extremely entertaining. It has the ideal mix of humor and insight.
This piece starts out with a "wild turkey butt chase" and ends with a lesson on not judging people, told adeptly by Mr. Raskin and Hollister, a San Francisco panhandler who may have played congas with Bob Marley. As a vegetarian, all the talk of animal parts made me slightly woozy, but that's the nature of the Thanksgiving holiday. I whole-heartedly agree with the previous review that this should be on the air this Thanksgiving.
