  • Summary: A "newsical" to mark the 50th anniversary of the kidnap of Patty Hearst by The Symbionese Liberation Army ( Feb 4 1974). I was the “lucky” News Director of KPFA in Berkeley at the time, who received the first communiqués, demands and the first “hostage tape” of Patty ( mom, dad, I’m okay…) The program includes excerpts of Patty Hearst hostage tapes mixed with excerpts of a musical piece based on those tapes .....other music...plus old recollections and 2024 thoughts on the nature of political violence then and now..in the time of Trump. (Told through narration, music and soundbites)
