Love the idea and execution of this audio project. Folk call him up and pour out their heart and soul; he composes music to fit, and mixes the two together beautifully. Check the whole series:

There's other pieces -- not here yet -- at his site:

They're music; they're radio pieces; they're personal confessionals.

Review of A Shortcut Through 2007

The yearly Shortcuts series has become a genuine pubradio tradition-- something we radio folk look forward to, secure in knowledge our listeners are gonna love it. It's a musical voxpop & sound-bite tour of the past year, and a tour de force of sonic-editing sweat, song, speech, and segue. 2007's Shortcuts got it call: global warmth, Imus' hot seat, The Sopranos swan song, steroids in baseball, and Bhutto's assassination. Instant nostalgia, history and overview. Weeks after we broadcast the 2006 Shortcuts we were still getting gushing listener calls" "What was that great hour you played with news-clips and pop-culture and music and all kinda mixed together and..." etc., etc. Shortcuts is an annual audio extravaganza and audience pleaser.

Review of Trudy Pitts and "Mr C" in their own words

this piece is like a bouquet of radio roses; send it your loved ones, aka, your listeners, on Valentine's day. Trudy and MrC talking together is a duet as lovely as their music, which, as they say, is either "better than sex" or "an accomplishment." if your station doesn't have six minutes on Valentine's for this sweet piece of audio candy, then you really ain't got, imho, a station.

Review of Bill Moyers on Media Reform 2007

endured this whole hour and learned absolutely nothing. if you've heard Moyers wave his nebulous media reform flag before, you've likely heard every second of this speech, probably several times. hard to believe the hour was so content-free, so unaccompanied by facts and info, and so full of take-back-the-media, it's-up-to-us, preaching-to-choir platitudes (some combo of Dr Phil's & Ronald Reagan's rhetorical techniques).

sure, this former LBJ press secretary can turn a phrase, but Bill, tell us something we don't know, something new. he spouted the same tired ol' media ownership stats -- surprise: media is a biz. and sure, he's right for the most part; but he's become a bit of a bore, a broken record. (ok, one factoid was interesting: USA investment in pubbroadcasting is $1.50 per capita; other countries invest $28-$85 -- tho i'm guessing, unless their pubcasters are exceptional, there's some pretty pissed off capitas in that country charging $85 per.)
