I am a big fan of early synthesizer music, so this episode of the Wire was right up my alley. As the previous commenter notes, "Good Vibrations" is by no means exhaustive (I would have loved to have heard more about synthesizer makers other than Moog), but it is a great introduction to a fascinating subject.
Would be worth listening to just for the burbling ambience of the geysers, but Hutchinson, the geyser guy, also provides a fascinating, if brief, overview of geysers. Wish it could have been longer....
I've long been a fan of Stephen McGreevy's wonderful recordings of the songs of the earth's magnetic field. It's wonderful to actually hear him talk about the history and technology behind his evocative recordings of whistlers and growlers. Fantastic stuff!

A Hopefully Realistic Fiction
A really lovely piece. One that unlocks the utopian fantasy at the core of the best mapmaking and urban planning. Very nice blend of fact and fiction.
