This is a very nice, on-the-scene report. The technical production is good and the reporter sets a nice tone. The on-site description is very well crafted and the mix of soundbite are compelling. It's sometimes tough to report on breaking stories like this without sensationalizing... this reporter does a stellar job.
What a fun topic! There's great nat sound and interviews in this story. The reporter's instincts to stay out of the way of the characters is right on, but when he does make an entrance his energy level is so notable down from their's that it's distracting. The story is also too long -- could easily be half the length.
Still - it's a fun topic that doesn't get much, if any, coverage on pubradio (or elsewhere for that matter) & the women interviewed are entertaining!
Great interview and great interviewer! Schaefer does a wonderful job asking the questions a listener would want asked -- but in the context of a very cozy conversation.

Todd and Diane have done a great job of capturing the nuances of consumption-ism, from the psychological causes to the real-life consequences. The story is told through engaging sound portraits of some pretty interesting folks. Definately an engaging listen!
This story obviously took alot of time and commitment from the reporter - taking us from the radio studio to the operating room as Osef confronts his disease. There are some very compelling moments (i.e. Osef talking about the effects of his disease) and some education about the disease and the treatment (ouch! That operating room sound is chilling!), but I agree the story is too long.
This collection of sound-rich documentaries on global marketing engage the listener with lively writing and interesting topics. The elements are woven together well, taking us on a journey through several communities struggling to find a place in the global marketplace. Well done!
It's very hard to produce a non-narrative sound piece that holds its own, but Sarah has done it quite well. This is a tough topic to cover, but she excels by featuring a young mom who conveys the odd mix of maturity and immaturity that we'd expect from a teen mom who's struggling with her dual roles. The mix is lovely and the interplay of ambient sound and Cathy's reflections is moving.

I wasn't around for the British invasion, so I learned alot about the Beatles from this documentary... especially things that don't make the typical "here's the history of the beatles" stories you might normally hear.
The mix of music and interview was great and I felt like I was really transported to the frenzy of the time, but with an insight that only an insider would have.
