WFIU Public Media has been broadcasting from the Bloomington campus of Indiana University since October, 1950. The station is a charter member of the National Public Radio network, and along with 90 other stations, it carried the premiere broadcast of NPR's in-depth news program, All Things Considered, on May 3, 1971. WFIU now broadcasts classical music, jazz, and news and information 24 hours a day. The Soul Kitchen is a two-hour, weekly program that blends sweet soul, funky jazz, old school rock, Americana, and world music into a flavorful gumbo for the ears and spirit.
