As one of Central Michigan University’s principal public service commitments, WCMU Public Media has provided television and radio programming and other outreach activities for over 50 years to residents of 52 counties in Michigan and portions of Ontario.  With five television and eight radio stations reaching almost 6 million people, CMU Public Broadcasting is the largest university-owned public broadcasting network in the nation and is a vital community resource.

WCMU Public Radio provides outstanding programming around the clock.  In addition to national programs such as Morning Edition, All Things Considered and A Prairie Home Companion, our radio network offers a wide range of local programs featuring classical music, jazz, and award-winning local news and information.

The Children’s Bookshelf from WCMU Public Radio showcases new children’s book titles meant to engage young readers in the joy of story found in both the written word and illustrations. The target audience includes teachers, librarians, parents and grandparents as part of their role to foster the love of reading. Each of the two minute reviews have accompanying study questions and activities and are available as podcasts. The series host and reviewer is Dr. Sue Ann Martin, Professor Emerita of Communication and Dramatic Arts in the College of Communication and Fine Arts, Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
