KFAI is a volunteer-based, community radio station that broadcasts information, arts and entertainment programming. By providing a voice for people ignored or misrepresented by mainstream media, KFAI increases understanding between peoples and communities, and fosters the values of democracy and social justice within its listening area. KFAI is a non-commercial FM radio station operating on 90.3 FM in the Minneapolis area and 106.7 FM in the St Paul area. KFAI is governed by a volunteer community board of directors, managed by a small paid full time and part time staff, and operated by a dedicated volunteer staff of over 300.

In collaboration with MIGIZI Communications, KFAI MinneCulture presents a series of short stories about the ever-changing urban Native American community in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Short stories inspired by MIGIZI's Legacy Radio Archive, 15 years of first-on-the-scene reporting dating back to 1977. Everything from the controversial Red Power Movements of the 1970s to the emergence of tribal water rights in the U.S. to re-covered recordings of national respected Indigenous artists, First Person Plural takes a look at Minneapolis's Indigenous presence through the lens of its historic past.
