Mountain Time Podcast Hour

Each program of the Mountain Time Podcast Hour contains two episodes from one of Wyoming Public Media's stock of award-winning podcasts, is newscast compatible, and can air as a standalone or recommended to run as a weekly program in the series. There are over 26 programs with up to 52 to follow for a full year available for free to stations via PRX.
The show begins with The Modern West’s second season, a thirteen week series called Ghost Town(ing). Host Melodie Edwards and other reporters explore the decline of rural towns in the region, introduce people who are working to meet their communities’ needs, and examine the history of the American West to understand the state of rural life today. The New Yorker called Ghost Town(ing) “a vivid, engaging series”. The Modern West won two Edward R. Murrow awards, Best Podcast and Best Documentary, and received third place for Best Multimedia Professional Division from the Native American Journalists Association.
Each podcast hour features 1-2 audio pieces that deal with similar themes. Many of these segments come from HumaNature, a storytelling podcast where people share heartfelt, strange, and harrowing encounters with the non-human world. HumaNature has won three Public Media Journalist Association Best Station Podcast Awards and was an official selection at the 2018 Big Sky Documentary Film Festival.
