History keeps happening to me, even if I no longer get to the frontline to report on it in its raw form for public radio. Sometimes this podcast will be about events that have just happened - and it will try to place the news in its historical context. Sometimes it will be reflective about things that happened thirty years ago and that we can understand better now that the facts are completely established, and the rough draft can be rewritten.
Often this podcast will be about America - because America didn’t get to be the way it is overnight, or because of the crash of 2008 or the failure of the Iraq War or 9/11. America is coming to the end of an age of reaction - just as in 1973 it was coming to the end of the New Deal era.
