An unusual court in Columbus, Ohio, offers a therapeutic approach instead of a punitive one to sex workers. In this two-part series, we hear the story of Stephanie Rollins' recovery from two decades of addiction and sex work, and the judge who offered her a new path for her life.

A small but growing trend in the justice system seeks to help women arrested for prostitution to heal from trauma and free themselves from life on the streets. Sex trafficking courts are based on an evolving understanding that individuals who sell their bodies are often doing so under threat or control of pimps, and are therefore victims rather than criminals. This two-part series explores CATCH Court, a sex trafficking initiative in Columbus, Ohio that stands out for its comprehensiveness and the length of the program. CATCH partners with local social service agencies to offer trauma counseling, drug treatment and education to women in the justice system.
