An upbeat exploration of the music of the swinging 1960s: rock 'n' roll, soul, garage, psychedelia, girl groups, b-sides, album cuts, and more. Weekly program, 59:00, standard NPR clock with 1-minute billboard, optional news hole, and two floating breaks. Originates from WNCW Spindale/Asheville/Greenville.

The years between the release of "Meet the Beatles" and "Abbey Road" were loaded with some of the most exhilarating music ever made, and today's hippest tunes continue to reflect the influence of that era. There was so much good music that there wasn't time to hear it all, and through the years much of it has been overshadowed by the big hits and by the harder rock music that emerged late in the decade. Dig! is a weekly hour-long look back at that magical time, with tunes from obscure 45s as well as from the icons of the decade. Context and back stories complete the "trip" back to the grooviest decade ever.

Host Kim Clark is the former program director of WNCW-FM in Spindale, NC. For three consecutive years, she was voted one of western North Carolina's favorite radio personalities by the readers of Asheville's Mountain Xpress arts and entertainment weekly. In recent years she has authored two local history books and produced several video documentaries. Hide full description
