A conversation about the future between some of America's most innovative thinkers and you.

What do Pythagoras, Thomas Jefferson, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton have in common? The Conversation.

At countless historical moments, powerful minds have come together to fundamentally rethink their worlds. Confronting the problems of their eras, they have torn apart inherited ideas of morality, science, government, and nature. They have dethroned truths, combined old thoughts, and created new ideas that become the common sense of later generations. People having conversations ask: “how do we get there?” People having The Conversation ask: “where are we going and why?” We live in an era of rapid change, an era when man has an unprecedented ability to shape the world, but is The Conversation happening today? This series attempts to answer that question. Starting in May, 2012, Aengus Anderson will begin traveling America and talking to a collection of thinkers who are questioning the status quo, from futurists to anarchists, deep ecologists to radical economists. Aengus will act as a proxy for the ideas of earlier interviewees and web participants, creating an asynchronous conversation between thinkers who might never have the opportunity to meet in person. As a genre, The Conversation isn't journalism, documentary, sound art or a web forum--it's a conversation. Aengus and co-producer Micah Saul are subjective narrators who want you to join them online and shape the project with your own thoughts. The Conversation matters to all of us: the future is too important to be left to chance. Hide full description
