Chuck Cecil first began doing the Swingin' Years program back in 1962 on KFI in Los Angeles. Then the program was syndicated for years resulting in not only a national but a worldwide following of enthusiastic, contributing fans.

The program's creative host Chuck Cecil can captivate and capture a new audience for your station in your broadcast area if you will open up a good time for it. Prove to yourself that what is happening for other stations after continuous airing of this very popular program, will happen for you and your station when you carry it in a good time slot.

We welcome the newest member stations to add the Swingin' Years with Chuck Cecil to their broadcast carrriage of the program -- including KCCK 88.3 in Iowa -- the birth state of Glenn Miller -- and WMCE in Pennsylvania -- Erie's JAZZ FM 88.5 and 104.9.

Both new -- March 2009.

Additional freshly-recorded hours of the Swingin' Years program by Chuck Cecil are available each week. If you want to air additional hours contact Stephen at SLG (at) PRWW (dot) ORG. Running additional hours of this VERY POPULAR PROGRAM can be a very good idea -- KKJZ-FM from Cal State University in Long Beach, California, airs three hours on Saturday and an additional three hours on Sunday -- and WLIU and WCWP in New York each air four hours Saturday evening after Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion -- and all stations are reporting that after a year of carrying this membership promoting program that their new memberships resulting from this one program alone are way, way up. Comments received on this program include those such as this one from a listener and PRX reviewer in Metaire, Louisiana: .......

''I was first esposed to [Chuck Cecil's] programs on WFPG-AM in Atlantic City, NJ, and although Chuck's program is no longer carried there, I'm glad to hear that his legacy carries on through the medium of Public Radio. Overall, an excellent piece. John Brown, Metairie, LA.'' .......

''This piece is what I would consider 'classic Chuck Cecil' and ranks well among his many other Swinging Years programs. ... Excellent ....'' .......

''The Swingin' Years'' is Chuck Cecil's quintessential program that has a growing public radio following. .......

''Hi, Stephen, I heard Chuck Cecl by accident over Long Island University radio---and almost lost my mind. It was too fabulous for words. Please, what is Chuck's musical theme that he plays as an interlude? And what can one do to obtain back broadcasts? ... Sincerely, Dr. Love.'' .......

‘’’The Swinging Years’ is a radio program that I listened to in the 1960s’. I have tuned in and listened to the program out of the Apple Valley and also the Palm Springs areas on KKJZ [May 2006].

‘’The Program is significant because it traces the progressive ‘History of Music’ from the early 1900s’ to the 60s’. What Chuck Cecil does is show the listener, by playing the music of various bands and artists, the transition of sounds and styles and the development of bands, instruments and singer styles into the music of the ‘Period,’ i.e., the 1920 period of ‘speak-easies, Charleston,’ the Depression, Post-War, Bee-Bop, Dixieland, Rag-Time and Swing and how they effortlessly made the transition from one to the other.

‘’… The Great Depression had a significant influence and Chuck Cecil pointed to the political and world’s stresses on music – especially the effects of WWII on music styles.’’ Martin S. Zuanich, San Luis Obispo, California 93403.

There are up to five hours of fresh new programming that Chuck Cecil creates each week with the old records -- and he does this so well (and hardly anyone else doing it all makes him very unique -- not to mention the most-interesting way he presents this program). .......

Right now, we are providing sponsorship in some locales. Just ask, we might be able to provide this for you (SLG@PRWW.org). It's easy for you to begin to prove for yourself what a valuable program this can be to your station’s continuance and growth! PRWW will place a link on its web site that portals to your station’s web site membership page to promote new membership from seniors and other major contributors who love to support stations that carry this series -- loved by young and old worldwide -- especially the young who are into Lindy and Swing. .......

But make no mistake, this is not just musical entertainment -- this is a program rich in history with many exclusive interviews. A current program is featuring an interview with Lionel Hampton and Chuck Cecil has a library full of face-to-face interviews with such notables as Bing Crosby, Artie Shaw, Kay Starr, Ella Mae Morris, Harry James, and dozens and dozens and dozens of other very famous personalities from which he works in one or two each week. .......
