Front Line: Missouri Soldiers in Iraq
Series produced by Adam Allington
For 2 weeks, KWMU Reporter Adam Allington traveled with a company of Missouri Reservists in Iraq. He produced on the fly sending back features, photos and content geared toward a local audience.
Starting in December of 2007, KWMU offered special coverage of Missouri soldiers serving in Iraq. For two weeks, reporter Adam Allington joined the soldiers of the 10 Psychological Operations Battalion from St. Louis, now on their third tour.
The project marked the first time a NPR-member station sent a reporter to Iraq to cover the war as a local issue. With the network coverage from Baghdad, we felt very strongly that our regional listeners were missing an important perspective that isn?t always reflected in the headlines. For Missouri, the continued war in the Middle East has had very real local consequences for families, careers and both physical and emotional well being.
