India's Techies Hitchhiked on the Way to the Moon

Indians don’t just happen to be good at math and science. The effects and fears of the Cold War, and the united leadership of India and the United States gave rise to a math and science educated population in India that the United States craved. The race to the moon inspired young Indian men coming of age in India, and it also changed immigration policy to welcome India's scientists and engineers in the United States.
This half-hour documentary follows the personal stories of two men from India, along with the coinciding political developments of the United States and India at that time. Their personal journeys are woven together with old news clips, speeches from presidents JFK and Lyndon Johnson and the first prime minister of India Jawarhalal Nehru. This documentary gives a historical and political understanding as to why science and engineering is so strongly a part of the Indian community in the United States, and why only a certain type of Indian was allowed to immigrate at the time.
