Despite studies supporting the fact that high schools should start later, many students are involved in after school activities. Pushing back the start time by even an hour would completely change their schedule.
High schools have always considered moving the start time back an hour so students can get more sleep. However, this would not help the students since many are involved in after school activities. If schools were pushed back later, then kids would get home later, and stay up even later completing homework.
