This was a fun piece - especially in the wake of the Harry Potter craze . I agree with the producer - this is a something different from the stories of bookstore trivia contests and readings. I really liked the part where "Team Slytherin" did a cheer in "Parseltounge."
What the world needs now is more Quidditch. If you missed the manic Harry Potter scramble weekend, this piece is still timely for anybody who has children, works with children, or has ever been a child. The piece takes us into the heart of a brilliant piece of parenting; An actual game of Quidditch played by 7 year olds. The piece is loud, fun, herky jerky and barely coherent. Kind of like if you were to capture the soul of a seven year old and convert it to audio form. Pass the bogey flavored jelly beans and enjoy.
I agree with the producer - a clever, radiophonic way for stations to address the Harry Potter mania - all it needs is a good live set-up - I'm not sure the beginning really sounds to me like they're playing it but the end is really good - a lucky little bit of recording!
