Review of PART 2: The Son of a Bitchin Bomb Went Off

Claes Andreasson has a great ear for a story. The subject has a wonderful voice and tells his recollections in an authentic down-to-earth way that makes the topic feel even more disturbing. I found myself thinking about this piece long after I'd listened to it. This is one for the water cooler.

Review of PART 2: The Son of a Bitchin Bomb Went Off

Sheep, and plenty of them. A little bit of somber music. And a good voice, talking about a real story that many listeners either don't know about or have forgotten about. Simple approach, no narrator, and it works well. A nice short piece like this could be a change of pace within a larger news magazine program.

Review of PART 2: The Son of a Bitchin Bomb Went Off

The five segments of The Downwinder Diaries available on PRX are powerful pieces. They are short, to the point and consist of first person interviews, along with audio from original newscasts. These are rich, moving, informative pieces, made even more powerful by their brevity.
When one reads a book, the author doesn't stand over one's shoulder, explaining each nuance. The reader is respected. The presentation of the Downwinder Diaries respects the listeners' intelligence. Mr. Andreasson stands back and allows the stories to tell themselves. A courageous move and one that makes these pieces even more powerful.
