Welcome to the fourth year of syndication for melodically challenged! We are a weekly, one-hour radio show that features contemporary, traditional, and avant-garde poetry as well as alternative music. We are written and produced by graduate, undergraduate and graduated college students from Georgia State University and we are sponsored by their English Department. Although we are syndicated by college radio stations, we have been downloaded and played by Public Radio stations across the country off of PRX. Our mission is to make the public aware of the great contemporary poetry being written today, to honor traditional and timeless poetry, and to introduce new and exciting forms of poetry.

melodically challenged creates an hour-long syndicated show every week that features poetry and alternative music revolving around a theme (past themes have included cars, death, and the color blue). Sponsored by the English Department of Georgia State University and written and produced by graduate and undergraduate students in the creative writing program there, each Fall and Spring semester melodically challenged offers 17 new and exciting shows. While we post the playlists on melodicallychallenged.org each week and announce each upcoming theme on our Facebook page, each show does not have to be played at that time and can be programmed whenever it fits a station's schedule. Every semester we offer general themes (this semester we'll have shows about memory, beauty, aging, parenting, and trains to name a few) and special educational shows (odes and sonnets). melodically challenged, where yesterday's poetry comes alive and today's poetry rocks!

Welcome to the spring season of melodically challenged! We will have new shows every week throughout the Spring semester and in January we start with shows that have animals scampering throughout the poems and music. We begin with RATS! (poems that feature both the despicable rodent and the adorable squirrel), we’ll follow that with cats: our Purr-etry show, and after that, of course, we’ll be Gone To The Dogs. We’ll also have a Hot Cool Jazz show written and voiced by our new music director and the newest member of our team: Nancy Correro, a PhD student at Georgia State University. Keegan Osburn, who graduated last year with a BA in Audio Engineering, is another new member of our team: a Sound Editor who works on our shows to give us the best audio quality possible. After Nancy’s show, we’ll look at speed with our A Snail’s Pace and Full Speed Ahead shows. Later in the semester, we will feature a special guest editor: Dr. Julia Brock, who is a history professor at the University of West Georgia. We hope to bring you a Vietnamese translation show, and we are working on shows that focus on individual poets we admire and literary journals that feature audio tracks of their poetry.
