- "Carmen's Grandmother"
- Summary: Produced in 1992 and originally aired on All Things Considered, this evergreen story chronicles Carmen Delzell's visit to her grandmother in the nursing home. It's a complicated story about love in the face of racism. This would be followed well by another story from the series, called "EZ Malone." Both reference relationships between black and white in the south, with Carmen's grandmother as the through-line.

Your piece has really helped me with my feelings for my own family. For me, this listening experience is one of those instances when another person's story, well-told, has helped me past the numbness and confusion engulfing my own reality. Your voice is clear and the piece is done so skillfully. Thank you for this. I've listened to all of Carmen's stories, and look forward to hearing more.
