As a society our general vision of prostitutes and the men who enjoy them is much more cruel than the picture Hal Cannon depicts for us in this interview. His delicate conversations with Mom, Cherry, and Copperfield really humanize brothels and their customers. I am still a little sad about the notion of women selling their bodies, but after reading about Cherry's peace with her career, Mom's tender way, and Copperfield's genuine love, legalized prostitution seems that much more bearable.
