African American master storyteller and radio personality Imakhu Mwt Shekemet presents her contemporary urban tales based on traditional folktales and humorous true stories.

Imakhu Mwt Shekemet is a popular veteran storyteller, musician, vocalist, writer, columnist, and producer. For years, she has focused on performing stories and music from the African diaspora. She now turns her attention to the Urban experience.

Imakhu Mwt masterfully shares her colorful renderings of the urban perspective through her ongoing series,"True Urban Legends." The contemporary stories, based on folktales and true stories, are Mwt's way of giving voice to her experiences of city living.

Mwt also hosts/produces another series,"ASHE!" ("Ashe!" is the Yoruba word for "personal power" or "It is so."

Mwt is the host, writer, producer, musician, arranger, and engineer of the series. She has been host/producer of several radio shows on public, commercial, and Internet radio. Mwt is also the founder/producer/engineer of the Internet station, AKERU! NuAfrakan Network. www.akeruradio.com

Mwt is also an ordained minister and Kemetic/Metaphysical elder high priestess of Sacred Shrine of Mwt Ast, based in Trenton, NJ.

Mwt has been a professional in the arts since the age of fifteen. She is a veteran performer of 30 years.

"Imakhu" means "Reverend" in the African Kemetic language. "Mwt" means "Mother." "Shekemet" means "Woman of Power."
