14 pieces by Deheisha Refugee Camp youth about life under Israeli occupation.

In April 2005, KPFA Radio producers Babak Jacinto Tondre and Nora Barrows-Friedman completed a six week radio training workshop to 22 youth from Ibdaa Cultural Center in Deheisha Refugee Camp, Palestine.
14 of the teenagers' pieces are translated from Arabic to English and range in topics from a tour of the Ibdaa Cultural Center to the Ibdaa Dance Troop to women's issues to life as a refugee to the importance of sports in daily life to first person accounts of the 1948 Catastrophe in Palestine.
In an Islamic society, which generally separates the sexes in school and activities,
the Ibdaa Cultural Center fosters talent equally between boys and girls. The Ibdaa dance troop is in it's 4th generation of dancers with each generation teaching the next. These are the stories of the 3rd generation, boys and girls ranging in age between 14 and 18. Many have hopes of recieving college scholarships to study outside of Palestine which currently has very few opportunities and little funding for students.
