Voices of Counterculture is a documentary radio series comprised of eight 28'50" programs produced and hosted by Jack Loeffler that provides an in-depth view of the evolution of the counterculture movement in the American West.

Program 1 Genesis featuring the voices of Philip Whalen, Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder and Peter Coyote addresses the historic poetry reading held in the 6 Gallery in San Francisco in October 1955 that ushered in the West Coast Literary Renaissance and West Coast Beat Scene. Many concur that this marked the beginning of the modern counterculture movement on the West Coast. 28'50"

Program 2 Haight-Ashbury & the Diggers features the voices of Lloyd Kahn, Lisa Law, Peter Coyote, Freeman House, and Gary Snyder, and presents a portrait of the hippie counterculture that prevailed in the Haight-Ashbury and the Bay Area in the 1960s, and of the Trips Festival of 1966 that many regard as the bridge between the Beat Scene and the Hippie phenomenon. 28'50"

Program 3 Psychedelic Revolution features the voices of Sylvia Rodriguez, Peter Coyote, Yvonne Bond, Lisa Law, Reno Myerson, John Brandi, and John Nichols and delves into the profound impact that psychedelics had on many counterculturalists, and how many were thus inspired to migrate from the cities to the high country of northern New Mexico. 28'50"

Program 4 New Mexico Communes I addresses three of the communes or countercultural communities in New Mexico & southern Colorado including New Buffalo, Libre, and Placitas. Stewart Brand also discusses what prompted him to publish the Whole Earth Catalog. This program features voices of Art Kopecky, Lisa Law, Iris Keltz, Reno Myerson, David Perkins, Roberta Price, Robert D'Alessandro, Stewart Brand, and Lloyd Kahn. 28'50"

Program 5 New Mexico Communes II further examines the nature of New Mexico Communes and spiritual communities including the Hog Farm, the Yogi Bhajan ashram, and the Lama Foundation. This features the voices of Reno Myerson, Wavy Gravy, Lisa Law, Gurufateh Kaul Khalsa, Siri Atma Singh Khalsa, Asha Greer, and Siddiq von Briesen. 28'50"

Program 6 Vietnam War & Chicano Activism features voices of David Perkins, Roberta Price, John Brandi, Enrique Lamadrid, Bob D'Alessandro, and Lisa Law, each of whom vigorously resisted the Vietnam War. Michael Naranjo from the Santa Clara Pueblo tells of being seriously wounded in combat in Vietnam, but overcame blindness and other injuries to become an internationally acclaimed sculptor. Thereafter, E.A. Tony Mares, Tomás Atencio, and Enrique Lamadrid discuss elements of Chicano culture. 28'50"

Program 7 Of Indians & Environmentalism features the voices of Jack Loeffler, Charles Wilkinson, Shonto Begay, Edward Abbey, Dave Foreman, Roberta Blackgoat, Richard Grow, Lyle Balenquah, and Tara Trudell. This program addresses the beginnings of the radical environmental movement in the Southwest in reaction to coal strip-mining on lands held sacred by traditional Hopi and Navajo Indians, and of Earth First!, and also of Navajo Relocation from Big Mountain. This program tells of collaborative efforts between Native Americans and counterculturalists to combat corporate extractors in league with the federal government. 28'50"

Program 8 A Unifying Vision reveals how major elements of the counterculture movement are still with us, and what steps might be taken to help bring our mainstream cultural system of attitudes in better alignment with the carrying capacity of our planetary habitat. This program features the voices of Peter Coyote, Daniel Kemmis, Gary Paul Nabhan, William deBuys, Melissa Savage, Rina Swentzell, Roxanne Swentzell and Gary Snyder. 28'50"
