ReFoundSound is an audio blog with the intention to promote active listening and a ‘new’ found awareness to the sounds of one’s environment; ReFound = to find again, to discover what is already there…Sound.

ReFoundSound is an audio blog with the intention to promote active listening and a ‘new’ awareness to the sounds of one’s environment anywhere around the world. ReFound = to find again, to discover what is already there…Sound.

We live in a visually dominated society and we tend to tune out, forgetting to stop and listen, to hear the rich, layered soundscapes around us. The sounds of the morning, the afternoon, the night; the different sounds of the changing seasons; the sounds above us in the air, on land and under water; the sounds of birds, insects, mammals, people, machines and technology. Sounds layered in the foreground, middle ground and background.

What do you hear? Are you listening? Are you tuned in?
Open Ears = Big World.

JoAnne 'jojo' Maffia is currently focusing on a series of new works that solely employ the sense of 'hearing' avoiding all use of visual means and materials. She has a new found interest in Field Recording, Environmental Acoustics and/or Acoustic Ecology and is moving away from traditional music making. For more information: www.refoundsound.com
