Coming Home: the Gary Burger Story

Gary Burger was a strong influence on the local Bemidji scene: music producer, songwriter, mayor of Turtle River. But his life went far beyond the confines of a small town in Northern Minnesota. In the sixties, Gary and four buddies from the army formed a group that was to become one of the most iconic musical groups in recording history: The Monks. Included in the documentary are interviews with Gary Burger, Maggie Carlson, Mark Emblum, and many others.

Produced by Milt Lee and written by Jamie Lee, Coming Home is the latest in a series of documentaries that the Lees have produced over the past 22 years. Their award-winning work includes Walking Through the Tall Pines, A Ranger in My Heart, and the ground-breaking series, Oyate Ta Olowan: The Songs of the People.
