The Andy Zanca Youth Empowerment Program (AZYEP) believes youth have an important voice and the community needs to listen. We broadcast more than five hours a week on our community radio station, KDNK in Carbondale, CO.

We also teach an acreditted high school radio broadcasting class, which is available to students from seven area schools. AZYEP also partners with local teachers to bring their curriculum to life by broadcasting students grades 3 - 8 talking about what they are learning and/or sharing original writing and dramas. This transformational program helps students develop leadership skills, multicultural relationships and increase their self-esteem. Many students report that broadcasting on the radio is the first time they really feel like they are heard by the larger community. As a bonus, listeners get to hear candid conversations between young people ages 8 - 21.
