Speaking with Paint

From Aaron Golding | 11:07

Antonio Davis lost the use of his arms and legs when he was the victim of a shooting. Not willing to just give up, Antonio put a paintbrush in his mouth and started to create.

Default-piece-image-2 Antonio Davis is an artist. He lives in Chicago where he paints in a studio on the North-side. The only difference between Antonio and other artists, is that he has to paint with his mouth. When he was younger, Antonio was the victim of a shooting. The bullets pierced his spine and left him with limited mobility in his arms and none in his legs. While living in a wheelchair he realized that he couldn't run with the crowd like before the shooting. Forced to spend more time on his own, he searched for something to do. A friend recommended painting. He put the brush in his mouth and that was the all it took. The love for painting was instant. In this profile, Antonio retells the story of that night he was shot and how it has affected his life.
