His music and his stand on free speech and against censorship resonates today as our society debates the cultural rules governing language, journalism, and state secrets. This 30 minute program is a personal tribute to Zappa; the producers readily acknowledge the influence the musician had on their lives down through the decades. THICKLY SETTLED is a weekly radio program about civilization and citizenship broadcast from the studios of WMBR, Cambridge. A national launch of the program is scheduled for spring of 2011. This program is produced by I.B.I.S. Radio (the Independent Broadcast Information Service) in cooperation with WMBR and Open Media Boston (dot org). Dave Goodman is a 30 year veteran of public and community media including radio, educational TV, and on-line journalism.
