It's good to hear what Christmas can mean to someone from another country rather that to one from here. This piece engages the listener to look back at the actual, deaper meaning of the celebration. Having to prove you can support your child on your own is never easy, especially in an abussive relationship. It focuses our attention how shallow we've become while creating a sentimental mood. With the giggles, and bike bell sound, it clearly shows innocence in the child which lead me to tears.
This piece was very moving and engaging. The mood was very strong which made the piece even more conpelling. As I started to listen to it, I became emotionally involved with what was going on for the mother and her son. It was so sweet to hear a 3 year old talk the way he was about his mom, but it made me rethink how much we take everything for granted. I don't think many people in this country ask for simple things for Christmas anymore, its all about materialistic things. For a child to ask for something that had no real value was incredible. The sounds in the background made the piece even more effective for me because of how simple it was, it just all seemed right.
