Summary: After experiencing the horror of the Khmer Rouge experience, Daran Kravanh credits an accordion that appeared on a stump in a forest with saving his life.
Parts of this piece are a little hard to hear/understand, but worth the effort. It's an almost fairy-tale story of somehow surviving truly terrible events, losing nearly everything but improbably finding his method of deliverance – an accordion of all things – waiting for him on a stump in the forest. This will be useful the next time I think spilling my coffee or having a flat tire makes a bad day.
