Summary: On November 16, 2014, luminaries from the worlds of music, theater, politics and literature gathered in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the 90th birthday of the legendary actor, musician, scholar and activist Theodore Bikel. His voice still as strong as ever, Bikel sang a six-song set that touched upon many aspects of his remarkable career. Robert Siegel of NPR's All Things Considered served as Master of Ceremonies for this extraordinary event that also featured performances from Tom Paxton, David Amram and Zalmen Mlotek as well as birthday tributes from Peter Yarrow, Judy Collins, Deborah Tannen, Leon Wieseltier and the late Leonard Nimoy. WETA's James David Jacobs hosts and produces this joyous radio program that captures the beauty and excitement of that wonderful evening honoring one of the great artists of our time.
