Outright Radio is the leading nationally syndicated radio show featuring the extraordinary true stories of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered folks, distributed by Public Radio International* and broadcast on nearly 100 stations across the US. Outright Radio is a recipient of the 2003 Edward R. Murrow Award and the NFCB's Golden and Silver Reels for 2000 and 2001, respectively. The mission of Outright Radio is to help eliminate homophobia based on ignorance and invisibility by featuring true-life stories of out lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual role models sharing our stories and struggles in top-quality national radio specials. Our program focuses on the unique experiences of everyday people in a series of hour-long, skillfully-edited, theme-based radio storybooks. It is a tapestry of music, narration, and interviews. Outright Radio is gay life in the first person. We feature stories from the broad spectrum of LGBT culture. From queer youth, elders, and transexual's stories, to segments about a lesbian surfer, a gay trucker, gay and lesbian Native Americans, homeless youth, and gay marriage, Outright Radio offers compelling radio accessible to all audiences.
