The Third Coast International Audio Festival is an annual and on-going celebration of the best documentary and feature work being made worldwide for radio and the Internet.

The 2013 Third Coast ShortDocs Challenge, in partnership with the food-championing James Beard Foundation, invited producers and listeners alike to create short audio works (2 - 3 minutes) inspired by the idea of "appetite," presented in three "courses," and including one of the five tastes in the title: bitter, salt, sour, sweet or umami.

The Third Coast International Audio Festival presents a special 11 episode series of its flagship radio program "Re:sound" (heard weekly on WBEZ, Chicago). Hosted by award-winning producer and writer Gwen Macsai, "Re:sound" is known for presenting unforgettable audio stories carefully curated from around the world. Each episode explores a new theme through a variety of lenses, a refreshing mix of storytelling styles and joyful use of sound. For this series, Third Coast has chosen ten favorite "Re:sound" episodes, nipped and tucked the shows to get them ready for the national stage, and teamed up with PRX, the Public Radio Exchange, to share them far and wide.

Airing weekly on WBEZ, each episode explores a new theme through a variety of lenses, a refreshing mix of storytelling styles and joyful use of sound. For season two, Third Coast has chosen six favorite Re:sound episodes from the past year, nipped and tucked them just so, and prepared them for the national stage. The season features exceptional stories by Roman Mars (99% Invisible), Lulu Miller (RadioLab), Paolo Pietropaolo (CBC), Jonathan Goldstein (Wiretap), Lorelei Harris (RTE, Ireland) and many others. Special Note! You can mix and match this season with 11 additional evergreen Re:sound (specials) episodes from season one. Stations airing our first season include: WNYC, KQED, KALW, Connecticut Public Broadcasting, New Hampshire Public Radio, WESA and many more.
