LPI’s mainstream films and TV series grapple with issues of cultural, economic, political and religious diversity, always focusing on the most compelling human stories, stories that entertain while touching minds and hearts.

LPI’s award-winning documentaries, promotional films and instructional videos reflect the Jesuit commitment to education and social justice.


The Kaleidoscope Project:

Mike WhorfWe are pleased to offer the PRX community access to a gem of classic radio broadcasting. Through the efforts of LPI and the Tom Tracy Foundation, the "Kaleidoscope" library is undergoing restoration and digitization so that the world may continue to be entertained and informed by the work of Mike Whorf. This timeless collection of educational and entertaining programs covers over 1,000 topics, a perfect compliment for your holiday and thematic programing.


A George Foster Peabody Award winner, American radio personality Mike Whorf spent nearly forty years of his announcing and program-hosting career at WJR in Detroit, Michigan. There he developed his ever-popular documentary/narrative program, "Kaleidoscope," which draws on a blend of storytelling, interviews, historic recordings, and music of the ages to create a captivating portrait of various topics.

Whorf's work in radio, beginning with the United States Air Force and continuing through to his time at WJR, also involved the creation of Mike Whorf, Inc., which enabled schools, libraries, and individuals to purchase copies of his shows for personal and educational purposes. Currently retired, his extensive catalog of over 1,110 hour-long programs now resides with Loyola Productions, Inc. where the tapes are undergoing restoration and transfer to digital media.
